"She's from the city and I'm from the forest. So my wife when she started, she doesn't know how to eat fish paste...when you're from the jungle you don't eat a lot of meat because you have like homemade vegetable, everything's all homemade. And then she's in the city she eats more meaty food."



What is the difference between Burmese food and Karen food?


Sande:
"In Karen culture, they don't have curry....[It's] so different"




Saw Aung Lin:
"When I used to live in Malaysia I was interested in different cuisines becuase there it's very international. Where like Korean, Chinese, they have--some of the food has sugar in it and some other had different flavor....That's when I'm starting to understand that each culture has different flavor."


How are Burmese and Karen foods different from the foods of your neighbors?


Sande:
"Samosa come from India, but I think it tastes different. I tried the Indian samosa, but it tastes so different. But it looks like same, but inside ingredient is so different, we don't like. I like our recipe."
